CHAR FASSON, BHOLA, Sept 29: In the last stage of the season, rough sea weather in Char Fasson Upazila of the district is hampering Hilsa netting.

In fading face, fishermen are returning from the Bay of Bengal to their respective fishing ghats in the upazila.

Depressing in the Bay of Bengal has caused the sea turbulent in the coastal region.

Some 40,000 fishers have returned empty-handed to 20 small and big fishing ghats including Dhalchar, Samraj, Khajur Gachhia, Beribhanga, Kangali, Tilkhali, Betua, Patila, Munura, Dakatia, Boksi, and Kachchapia.

Fishers said, the sea started to turn tumultuous since Tuesday night, along with thunders; since the morning, the sea has been turbulent; it forced them to return to the fishing ghats.

From the morning to afternoon, several thousands of trawlers reached the shore.

Hanif Maji of FB Mayer Doa Trawler said, "Our 15 fishers of Hatia went to the sea two days back.  But due to the rough sea, they anchored the boat at Nidra-Chhakina. Because of a long time fishing ban, our children and families are passing days in hardship."

Trawler owner Md Patwari said, "I took Dadan (one type of loan with interest) from warehouse owner and purchased things for sending fishers to the sea. But they returned empty-handed."

Fisher Noor Hossain of FB Allaher Daan of Noakhali, said, "We went to the sea after purchase of ice, oil, and others of about Tk 3 lakhs. Firstly, we stayed in the sea after being informed of the storm in fear of loss. But later on, we returned thinking about safety of life and nets and trawlers."

Abul Hossain Farazi said, "I have three trawlers having supplies of Tk 2.5 to 3 lakh each boat. But the boats returned amid the rough sea situation."
