Ex- Dinajpur MP sued in murder case

Former Dinajpur-1 MP Manoranjan Shill Gopal and 26 individuals were sued in a case filed over the murder of two teenagers during the 10th national election on January 5, 2014.

Mozibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Birganj Police Station, said that Jahura Khatun, mother of one of the victims, Salauddin, filed the case with the police station in Dinajpur on Sunday against 27 named and 90 to 100 unidentified people.

According to the case statement, the accused beat up Salauddin, 16, son of Abul Kalam Azad of Bhagirpara village, and his friend Md Asadul, 15, son of Alimuddin of Sahadubi village under Birganj upazila, in Bhelapukur village of the upazila during the 10th national election that took place on January 5, 2014.

Salauddin died on the spot, while Asadul died the next day at a local hospital. The bodies of the victims were buried following an autopsy after filing unnatural death case.
Mother of Salauddin in the case statement mentioned that during the Awami League regime she could not file a murder case. She said she got death threats from the accused.
