A man was killed and at least 10 others were injured in a collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway at Shibchar upazila in Madaripur on Wednesday.
The accident occurred on the Bhanga-bound lane near Surjanagar passenger shed at around 11:30 AM on Wednesday.
Shibchar Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Shakil Ahmed confirmed the information.
According to OC Shakil, the incident took place when two covered vans were parked on the roadside near Surjanagar passenger shed on the expressway. The drivers were standing nearby when a Hamim Paribahan bus collided with a Narail Express bus.
Being hit the the Narail Express crushed a covered van driver, Md. Imdad, 40, who died on the spot. Imdad was a resident of Sonatala in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat.
Following the accident, traffic was briefly disrupted on the road, but highway police and fire service personnel arrived at the scene upon receiving information, and removed the damaged vehicles, allowing traffic to resume.
OC Shakil Ahmed further added that legal action would be taken regarding the incident.
