Additional IGP of Special Branch Md Shah Alam has been sent on retirement on Thursday.

A gazette notification, signed by Abu Sayeed, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued on Thursday to this connection.

The notification said that according to Section 43(1) of the Public Service Act-2018, police’s Special Branch (SB) chief Shah Alam has been sent into retirement upon completion of his 59-year of service career.

On August 13, he was appointed as the head of the SB. He served the Bangladesh Railway as deputy inspector general.  He joined Bangladesh police as assistant police super on January 20, 1991.
