3 die in Jamalpur road crash

Three persons were killed and at least two others injured when a truck ran over an auto-rickshaw in Jamalpur town on Friday.

The accident took place around 7 am at Tubewelpar Trimor on the Jamalpur-Tangail road.
The dead were Jaidar Hossain Rukon Mahmud, 45, hailed from Kapashahatia area under ​​Melandah Upazila, Abdul Malek, 53, of Sheikh Sadi village, and Mostafizur Rahman, 45, a teacher of Beltia Kamil Madrasa.

According to locals, an auto-rickshaw was going to Jamalpur town from Kalibari with passengers in the morning. On the way, a truck hit the auto-rickshaw from behind in that area and ran away. The auto-rickshaw driver died on the spot. Two passengers were seriously injured. 

They were rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared both of them dead.

Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faisal Atik said the truck could not be seized. Legal steps are under process in this regard.
