Elderly man commits suicide in Joypurhat

An elderly man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree branch at Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Friday.

The body of the deceased Bokul Sheikh, 65, son of Akamuddin Sarkar and a resident of Sheikhpara area, was recovered around 8.30 AM on Friday.
According to the deceased family members, Bokul was distressed as his only income source has shut due to his illness. In the early hours of Friday, Bokul went out out of the house on the pretxt to perform Fazar prayer. Soon after that, he was found hanging from a branch of a tree at their family graveyard.

Joypurhat Police Station officer-in-charge Shahed Al Mamun confirmed the death and added that an unnatural death case was file in this regard.
