The National Review Committee, formed by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, will examine 11 contracts related to power supply, including those with India's Adani Power and other companies.

In a press release on Thursday, the ministry said that the committee has summoned all documents related to the 11 power plants.

The interim government formed the committee to review the contracts executed under the Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply (Special Provisions) Act, 2010 (amended in 2021). All the contracts being reviewed were signed during the previous Awami League government.

The government also issued a public notice on Thursday, inviting complaints from affected parties to be submitted to the committee.

Experts have raised concerns, accusing the ousted Awami League government of prioritising its trusted allies and beneficiaries in these contracts, allowing them to secure excessive profits at the expense of national interests.

One of the contracts under review includes the nearly 1500 MW Godda Power Plant in Jharkhand, India, built by Adani Power.
The government has never publicly disclosed the terms of its agreement to purchase power from this plant. However, critics claim that the price of electricity bought from Adani has at times been double the price of electricity purchased from India through government-to-government (G2G) agreements.
