A nine-year-old child was strangled to death by her mother at Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Krittika Chakraborty, daughter of Prosenjit Chakraborty. They live in a rented house in the area.
Police arrested Keya Chakraborty, mother of the deceased, in a connection in this incident.
Locals said that Prosenjit Chakraborty got lock in his house while he returned to home from work in the evening. In spite of repeatedly calling anyone could not answer from inside the house. Later, locals informed the police.
On information, police went there and found Krittika dead after breaking into the room.
At that time, Keya Chakraborty was sitting beside the body.
Shamsul Huda, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said, " Keya Chakraborty admitted her involved with the incident. She cannot give any particular information as she is mentally unfit now."
Legal procedures are under process in this regard, the OC added.
