Three electrocuted in Feni, Sherpur

Two minor children and a young man have been electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts - Feni and Sherpur, in two days.

FENI: Two minor children were electrocuted in Daganbhuiyan Upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The incident took place in Pashchim Dormopur area under Jaylaskar Union of the upazila at around 11 am. 

The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam Niloy, 10, son of Alahuddin, and Nazifa Aktar, 7, daughter of Salah Uddin. Both of them were residents of Pashchim Dormopur Village.

According to police and local sources, a wire had torn and fallen into stagnant water electrifying it. The two children came in contact with live electricity at around 11 am when they touched the water while playing, which left them critically injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and took them to Daganbhuiyan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared the duo dead.

Upon receiving the information, police recovered the bodies and handed those over to the families of the deceased without autopsies as per their request.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daganbhuiyan Police Station (PS) Md Lutfar Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with the PS in this regard.

NALITABARI, SHERPUR: A young man was electrocuted while charging an auto-bike in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The incident took place in Daodhara area under Noyabeel Union of the upazila at around 10 pm.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Khaleq, a resident of the aforesaid village. He was an auto-bike driver by profession.

Local sources said that Alamgir came in contact with live electricity at around 10 pm while he was charging his auto-bike in the house, which left him critically injured.

Injured Alamgir was then rescued and taken to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the health complex and handed it over to the deceased's family members as per their request.

Nalitabari PS OC Sanwar Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
