A dispute is going on over a member of the Sports Search Committee formed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Maj Imroz Ahmed (retd) as a protest is going on against him while another protest takes place in favour.
One group of the former hockey players complained to the adviser for the Ministry of Youth claiming that Imroze was biased and demanded his removal. They also staged a demonstration in front of the National Sports Council (NSC) in Dhaka.
On the other hand, another group of former players also brought out a procession in favour of Imroze and claimed that he was falsely alleged.
The Hockey arena of the country is always the talk of the town. The organisers and Hockey-related people are more vocal regarding issues rather than being busy on the field.
However, controversy regarding a member of the search committee is not a new thing as well. The first controversy started about the convener of the committee, former general secretary of the Badminton Federation Zobayedur Rahman Rana. Later, a controversy arose over member Mohiuddin Ahmed Bulbul. Bulbul is also a former general secretary of the Badminton Federation. Later, the Sports Ministry dropped Bulbul from the committee.
