CHATTOGRAM, Oct 6: A young boy and a girl were crushed under a train in separate incidents in Mirsarai and Sitakunda upazilas of the district on Saturday.
The accidents took place at Shuklalhat area in Sitakunda and Mastannagar area in Mirsarai.
It was known that an unidentified young girl, aged about 22, was killed on the spot after being crushed under the Sagorika Express train from Chattogram in Barabkunda Shuklalhat area of Sitakunda Upazila at around 7 pm.
Similarly, at around 5:30 pm, an unidentified young boy, aged about 23, also died on the spot after being struck by a train in Mastannagar area of Mirsarai Upazila.
Upon receiving the information, Sitakunda Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered both the bodies from the scenes and sent those to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.
Sitakunda GRP Outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Faruk Hossain confirmed the incidents, saying that the identities of the deceased are yet to be determined, but efforts are being made to identify them through fingerprint analysis.
Two unnatural death cases were filed with the Chattogram Railway Police Station regarding the incidents, the SI added.
