Wage earners' remittances in the first five days of October reached $424.72 million, a 30.6 per cent increase from $325 million during the same period in 2023.

The growth demonstrates stronger inflows and enhanced banking efficiency.

State-owned banks collected $108.02 million, with Janata Bank PLC leading with $51.37 million. Despite steady performance, state banks still trail behind private banks.

Private commercial banks saw a significant rise, bringing with $300.20 million. Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC led with $105.86 million, followed by BRAC Bank PLC with $35.93 million.

Foreign commercial banks contributed $1.48 million, led by Standard Chartered Bank with $1.34 million.

This growth underscores increased trust in banking channels and highlights the critical role remittances play in supporting Bangladesh's economy.
