Abdur Razzaq --- a renowned politician who contributed immensely in the development of the country as he was one of the organizers of 1971, died on 23 December 2011. To tribute this human in his fifth death anniversary, Abdur Razzaq Foundation --- 'Peace for Humanity' organized a photography exhibition at Dutch, TSC (Teacher-Student Centre), University of Dhaka, with the help of Abdur Razzaq Sriti Shongshod (Abdur Razzaq Memorial Trust). The exhibition was held from 24-26 December 2016, portraying his love and sacrifices for the nation and also about his family life.
Razzaq was a member of the Awami League Advisory Council and he was a chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for the Water Resources Ministry. He was the Minister for Water Resources of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001 during Bangladesh Awami League government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's cabinet. And he served for freedom with the Father of the Nation --- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. There are many historical photos of Abdur Razzaq with many other famous and national politicians and friends of Bangladesh like General Jacob, General
Uban, late President Zillur Rahman and many more.
Before the 1971, Abdur Razzaq along with Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Minister Tofayel Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and Serajul Alam Khan established Mujib Bahini to organize the people and to train them for the Liberation War. Razzaq was the sector commander of Meghaloy during the Liberation War. There were three more sector commanders at that time. And that was the starting of a new era.
Late former Water Resource Minister Abdur Razzak had a great heart for the mass people of the country. He showed how to serve a country like a hero. He got a very historic political career. As a General Secretary and Minister of Awami League, he attended many national and international meetings with Prince Charles, Economist Amartya Sen, Former President Bill Clinton, Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Narsimha Rao and many renowned personalities and all these of different times have been presented in the exhibition.
Farida Razzaq, life partner of this legendary politician, stood by him in every path of his life. Nahim Razzaq and Fahim Razzaq are two sons of Abdur Razzaq.
Being a progressive and fearless leader Razzaq had strongly stood against fundamentalism, and for secularism. Razzaq was arrested many times and jailed as a political prisoner while struggling for the country.
Those photos were inspiring to the new generation who knows a little about the history and war of sacrifice. This charismatic leader with a great organizing capacity owned many hearts and left an irreplaceable place as died from kidney and liver damage on 23 December 2011 in London.
