Rakib Abdul Razzak, aged 18, working at Unmad and Kishor Alo as cartoonist, is a student of Ideal College, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. He has also contributed his cartoons in the daily Kaler Kantho. In future, he wants to join DC Comic. Being born and brought up in Puran Dhaka, he takes the beauty from everyday chaos of his surroundings.
When did you first start to draw?
From my childhood I love to draw. I used to start drawing in my home work copies instead of writing in those.
What inspired you?
Comic books inspired me a lot initially. Not only just DC comic but our own Chacha Chaudhary has an impact in my love for cartoon. 'Akantis' group in Facebook is a platform for the new young cartoonists and it helps and inspires a lot to pursue a cartoonist's dream.
How did it all begin?
I saw Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy's (Staff Cartoonist at Dhaka Tribune Assistant editor /cartoonist at Unmad) cartoon exhibition and met him there in October, 2015. From then I used to meet him and one day he said to go to Unmad's (Satire Magazine) office. There eventually Ahsan sir (Ahsan Habib editor of Unmad) saw my drawing, and he said to draw the life story of Unmad. Thus, my journey begins.
Are you inspired by real life characters for cartoons?
I do have original characters in my cartoons. I observe my surroundings, people and their gestures and postures. It not only inspires me to do something new every time but it helps to pour new dimensions in my works.
What's the response of your friends and family?
My family is enthusiastic about my work. At the very beginning my father was a bit against of it, but did not held me back. In 2016, at Drik gallary Unmad had an exhibition on "global environment", my father went there and saw that I am among top twenty five cartoonists in Bangladesh, and from then he started being proud of me.
But there is always some negativity in our society if you try to do something out of the box. Some relatives comment, "What will you do by this. Do something solid. I take the positivity from this that they are concern about my career and life. But of course, such impressions of others inspire me a lot to do my work better.
What other interests do you have besides drawing?
I like to observer people keenly, their body language, the way they move while talking, walking and with make up without make ups etc. this actually helps me a lot to pursue my work.
Who is your inspiration?
Ahsan Habib is my inspiration. I finished that work on Unmad's life that very night. But I could not dare to show him. Then one day he asked for it, as it was in my bag, I have showed him immediately.  After that, sir asked me to draw occasionally for Unmad.
What's your dream?
My dream is to join DC Comics or Marvel Comics. To make my dream real further I want to study Animation.
