
Dhaka International FolkFest 2017 has been confirmed to be held between November 9 and 11 at the Army Stadium in the capital. A press conference was held on October 29 at The Westin Dhaka to confirm the news. Nearly 140 folk artistes from eight countries are to take part in the festival. During the three day long festival shows will start on each day at 6pm and continue well beyond midnight till 1.30am. The online registration will open from November 1 and as always is absolutely free for the audience.
Among the local performers taking part in the festival are Shahjahan Munshi, Arif Dewan, Fakir Shahabuddin, Shahnaz Beli, Shah Alam Sarkar and Aleya Begum, Baula and Bauliana.
From India Nooran Sisters, Papon and Basudeb Das Baul will be coming to represent the international group of stars. Grammy Winner Tinariwen comes from Mali, Mekaal Hasan band from Pakistan, Kutumba from Nepal, Rastak from Iran, Mauricio Tizumba and Sextet from Brazil and Tenzin Choegyal bringing the folk of Tibet. Artistes from Australia, France and Japan are also due to take part.


For online registration enthusiasts have been asked to visit www.dhakainternationalfolkfest.com. After successful registration, the entry pass will be emailed to the respective applicants. When entering the venue, every viewer must bring the photo ID used for the registration process and a printed copy of the entry pass.

The three day event will require three separate entry pass for each day. Audience is requested to bring the correct Entry Pass along with them for each consecutive day. Sun Communication will be organising the festival with Dhaka Bank, Meril, Maasranga and more.
