Stocks open week down as major sectors dip

Stocks open week down as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges on Sunday.
Among the falling major sectors were textile and ceramics. A total of 170 securities of the large-cap group incurred loss due to lower activities.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the first session of the week 43.80 points down at 6,204.43.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed it with 9.81 points down at 1,379.62 and with 13.85 points down at 2,250.22.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also opened the week down, with its major CASPI index closing ended 145.90 points down at 19,190.63.
The daily turnover in value at DSE was Taka 432.87 crore and the volume of shares was 12.21 crore. Among the traded 331 issues at DSE, 194 closed lower against 94 gaining issues.
At CSE, 145 issues lost when 78 finished the day higher.
The top five gaining companies of DSE were Legacy Foot, Fine Foods, BD Auto Cars, MIRACLEIND and ANLIMAYARN.
The major losers were Al Haj Textile, SEMLLECMF, Premier Cement, BD Thai and SP Ceramics.
SIM Textile topped the turnover list followed by BD Thai, Legacy Foot, Lanka Bangla Finance and Confidence Cement.    -BSS
