First ‘Made in Bangladesh’ labeled smartphone hits market

The first 'Made in Bangladesh' labeled smartphone 'Primo E8i' has been manufactured at the mobile phone plant of Walton Digi-Tech Industries Ltd in Chandra of Gazipur. Released in the market on December 10 the phone comes with 30 days' instant replacement guarantee with 101 days after sales service on priority basis which will be provided within 48 hours. The smartphone is priced at 3,500 BDT.
The 4.5-inch Primo E8i features a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor, Mali-400 GPU, 512 megabyte of RAM with 8 gigabyte internal storage which is expandable up to 32 gigabyte. It has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash while bears a 2MP front camera for selfies. The phone has 1700 mAh li-ion battery and supports dual 3G SIMs.
The phone was launched at a community center in Gazipur. Asifur Rahman Khan, Chief of Walton Cellular Phone Marketing Division, unveiled the country's first ever smartphone.
The phone runs on Android Marshmallow and is available in three attractive colours of Black, Glossy Golden and Coffee.
Mahamudul Hasan, Senior Deputy Director of Walton Cellular Phone Marketing Division; Mahabub-ul-Hasan, Deputy Director and Ikramuzzaman Khan, regional Sales Manager, were among other top Walton officials present on the occasion.
Laptop fair in capital ends today
Three day long 'Techshohor Laptop Fair 2017' started in Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at the capital from December 14. The fair will end today after having run with the slogan 'Shok Theke Shakti, Prajuktite Mukti'. It is the country's 19th laptop exhibition and has been organised by Expo Maker. This year, a mega-pavilion, five sponsored pavilions, 14 mini pavilions and 27 stalls have been set up for exhibiting and selling latest technology products of leading top-notched technology manufacturers and marketing companies. The main sponsor of the fair is ICT centric online news portal techshohor.com. Co-sponsors include Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo. Ticket booth sponsor is ROG. Edumaker is sponsoring as Knowledge Partner. There will also be a media booth in the fair.
All types of IT products have been made available with special discounts and gifts. The fair on this final day start at 10am and would end by 8pm. Entry price for the fair is taka 30. However, students with school uniform or displaying their identity cards can enter free of cost. Disabled people will also get this opportunity to get free access. It has been said that the profits from the ticket sells will be given as assistance for the treatment of journalists who are suffering from remote cancer.
ACI motors at expo of modern appliances for agriculture
A regional seminar titled 'Krishikhate Tekshoi Jantrikikoron' was held on the occasion of 33rd SAARC Charter Day on December 10. Various modern appliances for mechanisation of agriculture were also exhibited on the day in parallel with the seminar. The programme was inaugurated by Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council's premises in the capital's Farmgate. After inauguration he explored through the exhibition premises.
