25 educational institutions lack head teachers at Kamarkhand

SIRAJGANJ, Dec 17: The academic and administrative activities are suffering for lack of head teachers at 25 educational institutions in Kamarkhand Upazila of the district.
The authorities concerned said there are 155 educational institutions in four unions of the upazila. Of those, there are seven colleges, 20 secondary schools, 11 madrasas, 3 ebtedayee madrasas, 30 kindergarten schools and 83 primary schools.
Of the seven colleges, Hajji Korop Ali Memorial Degree College and Kamarkhand Women's Degree College have been running without principal. Posts of head teachers have remained vacant at 20 secondary schools.
Most of the posts of head teachers are vacant at the primary schools. In the upazila, there are 83 government primary schools where 21 posts of head teachers are vacant.
Assistant teachers are performing the duties of head teachers; so the administrative and academic activities are being hampered at those schools.
The guardians and locals demanded immediate recruitment of the head teachers.
Kamarkhand Upazila Chairman Abdul Matin Chowdhury said, "This is the smallest upazila in the district. But the academic and administrative works are being hampered as there is no head at the educational institutions."
He demanded immediate employment to the vacant posts.
Upazila Primary Education Officer Moazzem Hossain said the government has taken initiative to give promotion to the teachers in 65 per cent quotas which would be implemented soon.
"When the initiative will be implemented, the vacant posts of the head teachers will be fulfilled," he also said.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Saiful Islam said it is the duty of the management to recruit head teachers.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Akanda Mohammad Faisal Uddin said, "We sent letters to the upazila primary education officer for recruitment to the vacant posts. He assured that he would take necessary initiatives."
He also said after consulting with the authority concerned of the institutions, steps would be taken immediately.
