"Study hard, dear! You have to become a doctor or an engineer." This is one of the most conventional dialogues of stereotypical parents of our society in Bangladesh. People of all walks, including me, more or less can relate to this dialogue which they have encountered during their elementary level. I have seen people putting more emphasis on the Departments of Science and then Business more than Department of Arts and Humanities.

The word "job" is the premier cause behind the stereotypical consideration as they think one can achieve better jobs by studying in those nominal departments. This consideration is not rational enough, because there is a flexible range of different jobs from the Department of Art and Humanities.

I am a student from science background and had never considered pursuing anything other than science even though it had become a ball and chain for me. My overall discretion changed when I saw one of my cousins, from the Department of Arts and Humanities, was doing tremendous in her job sector. By positioning herself in a reputed place of an NGO, she was privileged to be aside of the impoverished people, which was her utmost desire of life.

Earning money and living the dream was taking place at the same time. I was enlightened from her that the modern liberal arts education paves the way of acquiring knowledge that is required for a free human being and the reputation is where we can substantiate our potential. A sudden realization came into my mind that I was carrying the Achilles heel what my ambience pushed me to do, without looking beyond the window.

The Department of Arts and Humanities is the real field to study with vast area of job opportunities. Apart from sitting for BCS, graduates can flourish their career in the education sector, social and developing sector, media and journalism sector, advertising sector and whatnot.
To be back to the drawing board after the higher secondary level, I switched from science and got myself admitted into the Department of English as I found my comfort zone and interest in this area. Throughout the years of my academic life, I have been witnessing my seniors getting into different job fields. The students with the highest grades usually step into the education sector and become a teacher.

They just not only become teachers of schools and colleges, but also of universities as Bangladeshi arts graduates get plenty of opportunities to get higher degrees from abroad even with scholarships. The social and developing sector is more popular among all the other sectors. I have witnessed that some of my senior graduates was hired by the well known NGOs like Teach For Bangladesh, JAAGO Foundation and BRAC.

The arts graduates have core knowledge in social development and human psychology, which is why they are the most eligible for getting jobs in the NGOs. Nowadays, the developing studies are in all time high state because of the hazardous society where people get treated like animals. So, there are scopes for arts graduates to work in this sector and make the world a better place by raising awareness among the people. Here, they can also make an international career also.

My seniors are working as reporters and other reputed figures in popular Newspapers and TV channels. If someone has interest in writing for films and media, directing or video editing, then the Department of Arts and Humanities is the best option for him.

In my university, the students get chance to implement their works in directing to as they get assignments regarding this. Besides, they get chance to become reporter, news presenter, and writer in real means as we have the facility of having own campus TV and magazines. Then the excellent communication skills lead the students flourish in advertising sectors and travel institutions.

In a nutshell, the students of the Department of Arts and Humanities have prominent facilities in job sectors, which give them hopes of finest future. So, we are not tied up with the irrevocable consideration of studying in the Department of Science or Business.
