RU Professor Sadruddin Ahmed passes away

Professor Dr Sadruddin Ahmed, a former teacher of Rajshahi University (RU) English department died at BIRDEM General Hospital in the capital city on Monday (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). He was 82.

Professor Dr M Shahidullah, one of his colleagues told that professor Sadruddin Ahmed was a devoted and sincere teacher. His contribution to the arena of English Language and Literature in the country will be remembered forever.

Professor Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed was born at Hazrakhali village of Satkhira district on 1st January in 1935. He passed BA and MA degree in English from Dhaka University. Later he joined Rajshahi University as a lecturer in 1961 and was promoted to professor in 1971 and served at the department till 1996.

He also served as dean of RU arts faculty and chief editor of Rajshahi University Studies.
