Development Fair-2018 with an aim to highlight the multiple development initiatives and successes of the present government led by Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has started across the country with the theme "Role Model of Development, Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh".
PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the fair through video conference from Ganobhaban in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
BANDARBAN: Secretary of Liberation War Affairs Ministry Aparup Chowdhury inaugurated the fair as chief guest on deputy commissioner's office premises. Later, a colourful rally paraded the main roads of the town.
A discussion meeting was held on the deputy commissioner's office premises. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dilip Kumar Bonik presided over the meeting.
It was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Army Region Commander Brigadier General Jubayer Salehin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Didare Alam Md Maksud Chowdhury, Additional Police Super Md Kamruzzaman, and Mayor of Bandarban Municipality Islam Baby.
At least 40 stalls have been set up in the fair.
BHOLA: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from DC office premises and after parading the main roads of the town ended on Bhola Government School ground.
Secretary of Food Ministry Shahabuddin Khan, DC Md Seli Uddin, Zila Parishad Chairman Abdul Momin Tulu, Joint Secretary of district Awami League (AL) Jahirul Islam Nokib, and Organising Secretary Moinul Hossen Biplob were also present at the rally.
More than hundred stalls have been set up in the fair which will continue till January 13.
Different successes of the government will be upheld through the fair. Besides, discussion meeting and cultural function will also be held.
DC Md Selim Uddin said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to turn Bangladesh into a developed country in future.
BOGRA: Secretary of Home Ministry Md Farid Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the fair on Bogra Zila School ground. At that time, DC Mohammad Nure Alam Siddiqui was also present.
The fair will continue from 10am till 8pm every day.
Among others, Bangladesh Army Officer Colonel Salah Uddin, District AL President Alhaz Momtaz Uddin, Zila Parishad Chairman Dr Mokbul Hossen, Deputy Director (DD) of Local Government Division Sufia Nazim, ADC Amirul Islam and Raihana Islam, Senior Assistant Police Super Anwar Hossen, District Senior Information Officer Mojibor Rahman were also present.
At least 104 stalls have been set up in the fair.
Later, a colourful rally paraded the main roads of the town.
CHUADANGA: A weeklong development fair and cultural week started on football play ground in the district town on Thursday morning.    
The district administration organised the fair and the cultural week.
On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from deputy commissioner's office premises led by DC Ziauddin Ahmed at 9.30am which paraded the main roads of the town and ended on the football playground.
In absence of Whip Solaiman Haque Joarder Selun, MP, DC Ziauddin Ahmed inaugurated the fair as chief guest while ADC Abdur Razzak presided over the opening ceremony.
The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary Md. Alamgir, ASP Abdul Momen, Zila Parishad Chairman Md. Shamsul Abedin Khan, Sadar Upazila Chairman Asadul Haque Biswas, and Mayor of Chuadanga Municipality Obaidur Rahman Chowdhury as special guests.
A total of 150 stalls have been set up in the fair which will remain open from 9am till 5pm every day and cultural programme would be held every evening from 6pm till 9pm.
The speakers including the chief guest highlighted different development programmes of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
FENI: The fair has been organised on PTI ground at Trunk Road in the town which will continue till Saturday next.
A colourful rally was brought out from Language Martyr Shaheed Salam Community Centre and ended on the fair ground.
Later, a discussion meeting was held. Member of Planning Commission Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed was chief guest and DC Monoj Kumar Roy presided over the meeting.
Treasurer of Feni University Professor Tayebul Haque presented the keynote paper.
At least 63 stalls have been set up in the fair.
GAIBANDHA: The main objective of the fair is to focus and inform the country's people about the development activities of the government, its success and ongoing programmes the government has taken to build Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041.
To promote government's future plans, achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) targets and partnering people in implementing SDGs are other objectives of the fair, sources said.
To identify local problems and formulate plans and their implementation ideas through mutual discussions among public representatives, political leaders, government officials, and distinguished people are the purposes of holding the fair, sources added.
At least 10 special initiatives namely "Sheikh Hasina Branding" like Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar project, Ashrayan Prokalpa; Digital Bangladesh; Education Assistance Programme; Women Empowerment Programme; Electricity for All; Social Safety Programme; and Community Clinic and Mental Health undertaken by the government would be displayed in the exhibition, said an official of the district administration.
To hold the fair on Independence Square of the town here successfully, the district administration had taken up necessary measures and different programmes that include arrangement of reality show, quiz and debate competition and cultural function and prize distribution to the winners.
On Thursday morning, Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the fair through video conference held at Ganabhaban, Dhaka.
PM Sheikh Hasina talked to imam of Gaibandha Bara Masjid Mufti M. Mahmudul Hasan, old age allowance beneficiary Isahak Ali and freedom fighter Wasiqur Rahman Mazu.
PM Sheikh Hasina in her speeches said the ferry movement between Balashighat and Bahadurabadghat would be launched in March and the government is actively thinking to construct tunnel on Balashighat-Bahadurabadghat route.
PM also directed the DC to search khas land for the landless and rehabilitate them on the land without delay.
Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Shubhashis Bashu has been assigned here to supervise the fair all the round and coordinate it staying at Gaibandha closely, said an official of the district administration.
Talking to the Daily Observer, DC Gautam Chandra Pal said a total of 70 stalls of government and non-government departments have been set up in the fair.
Similar fair is also being held at upazila headquarters of the district at the arrangement of the respective upazila administration, the DC added.
KHULNA: A three-day "Development Fair-2018" kicked off in the city on Thursday.
Khulna District Administration organised the fair. Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda inaugurated the fair as chief guest in front of Khulna Circuit House while DC Amin-ul-Ahsan chaired the inaugural session.
Among others, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP, Khulna Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, Deputy Inspector General of Khulna Range Didar Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Mahbub Hakim, addressed the function as special guests.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chief guest Narayan Chandra Chanda said Bangladesh under the leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina is marching forward in many sectors.
He said the main purpose of the fair is to display various development activities of the present government before the people.
"Bangladesh was known as a country of natural disasters, corruption and poverty but now it has become a model of development. The present government has taken initiatives to turn Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021," he added.
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from the City's Shaheed Hadis Park led by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, and after parading the main roads of the city it ended on Circuit House premises.
A total of 120 stalls have been set up in the fair. The fair will remain open from 9am till 10pm every day. Besides, discussion meeting and cultural programmes will also be held.
Later, the chief guest inaugurated 'Mujib Killa' on the fair premises. The district relief and rehabilitation office is constructing the 'Mujib Killa'.
KISHOREGANJ: DC Md. Azimuddin Biswas presided over a meeting which was held on this occasion.
Additional Health Secretary of the Health Ministry Roksana Kader was chief guest at the meeting.
It was addressed, among others, by District AL President Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Shajahan, General Secretary Advocate MA Afzol, Zila Parishad Chairman Md. Zillur Rahman, its Chief Executive Officer Shibir Bichitra Barua, Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md. Parvez Miah, DD of Local Government Division Md. Zohirul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, ADC (General) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, ASP Nazmul Islam, Gonotantree Party President Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmick Dolon, and woman leader Bilkis Begum.

LAXMIPUR: A three-day long development fair started here from Thursday.
On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from Sadar Upazila Parishad premises and after parading the main roads, ended on District Collectorate premises.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the same place. Newly joined Deputy Commissioner Anjan Kumar Pal presided over the meeting while Member of Planning Commission of Bangladesh Government Zuena Aziz was chief guest at the meeting.
Among others, Chief Executive Officer of Laxmipur Zila Parishad Abu Daud Md Golam Mostofa, Deputy Director of Local Government Division Mir Shawkat Hossen, ASP Aunirban Chakma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sheikh Murshidul Islam, ADC (Revenue) Md Iqbal Hossen, General Secretary of district Awami League Advocate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, Principal of Laxmipur Government College Main Uddin Pathan, and freedom fighter Kajal Kanti Das were present as special guests.
Later, the guests visited different stalls. At least 60 stalls have been set up in the fair which will end on Saturday next.  
MANIKGANJ: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from Bijoy Mela ground and after parading the Shaheed Rafiq Road in the town ended at the same place.
Later, a video show highlighting the government's successes was held at 3pm.
A discussion meeting was also held where State Minister for Health and Family Planning Ministry Jahid Malik Swapon, MP, was present as chief guest and Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Nasima Begu, NDC, was present as special guest.
Later, a cultural show was held in the evening. At least 100 stalls have been set up in the fair.  
MUNSHIGANJ: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from DC office premises.
Later, a discussion meeting was held on the DC office premises. DC Shaila Farzana presided over the meeting while Secretary of Public Service Commission Aktari Momtaz was chief guest.
Among others, Principal of Munshiganj Government Harganga College Dr Mir Mahfuzul Haque, Principal of Government Mahila College Professor Motiur Rahman Gazzali, ADC (Revenue) Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid, Additional District Magistrate Shawkat Alam Majumder, Deputy Secretary of Local Government Division Abu Saleh Mohammad Mohiuddin, ASP Md Mostafizur Rahman, DD of the Department of Agriculture Extension Md Humayun Kabir, and Sadar Upazila Chairman Anisuzzaman were also present.
At least 76 stalls have been set up in the fair.
NARAIL: On the occasion, a rally was brought out from the DC office premises and ended on District Arts Academy premises.
DC Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, ADC (General) Kamrul Arif, Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Sohrab Hossain Biswas, District AL President Advocate Subash Chandra Bose and other leaders led the rally.
NARSINGDI: State Minister for Water Resources Ministry Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Bir Protik, MP, inaugurated the fair on Shilpakala Academy premises.
DC Dr Shubhash Chandra Biswas presided over the inaugural session while Deputy Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Directorate Sultana Razia, Narsingdi Municipality Mayor Kamruzzaman Kamrul, CS Dr Sultana Razia, and ASP Hasibul Alam were present as special guests.
More than hundred stalls have been set up in the fair.
PANCHAGARH: The district administration organised the fair at Panchagarh Government Auditorium.
On Thursday morning, DC Mohammad Jahirul Islam led a colourful rally from his office premises to the fair venue with participations of government officials, employees, public representatives, students, teachers, civil society members and elite.
At least 70 stalls have been set up by different government departments and organisations demonstrating the successes achieved by the present government in various development sectors.
Later, the DC presided over a discussion meeting organised by the district administration at the auditorium.
Different reality shows and cultural evenings were also arranged and documentary films screened.
PATUAKHALI: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from Circuit House premises and after parading the main roads of the town ended on CD Square premises.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the same place. ADC Md Hemayet Uddin presided over the meeting while DC Dr Masumur Rahman spoke at the meeting as chief guest.
Among others, Zila Parishad Chairman Khalilur Rahman Mohan Mia, ASP Md Mahfuzur Rahman, GS of District AL Kazi Alamgir were present as special guests.

PIROJPUR: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from central Shaheed Minar and after parading the town roads, it ended on the fair ground at the Government Boys' High School.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the same place.
DC Abu Ahmed Siddique chaired the meeting while local lawmaker AKMA Awal spoke as chief guest and Senior Secretary of cabinet division Dr. Abdur Rob Hawlader, and Acting Secretary of Information Ministry Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed addressed the meeting.
Among others, Principal of Government Suhrawardy College Professor Md. Delwar Hossain, CS Dr. Md. Faruk Alam, DD of Local Government Division Kazi Tofayel Hossain, ASP Abul Kalam Azad and District Mahila Awami League President Layla Parvin were also present in the programme.  
The speakers said, "The country is moving fast towards development. We are near to achieving vision 2021. The Bangladesh has set an example of role model in development across the world. The long vision of the present government and realistic and dynamic leadership has made the dream true. Rural development scenario has changed positively. Poor and marginal people are enjoying the economic development."
Different government departments, academic institutions, Muktijoddha Sangsad, NGOs, business houses and entrepreneurs took part in the fair. More than 100 stalls have been set up in the fair.
