Natore : A mobile court has jailed a man and fined three others for producing adulterated molasses in Boraigram and Lalpur upazilas.
Of the convicts, Joynal,32, son of Moksed Ali of village Bhabanipur in Boraigram awarded two months of simple imprisonment while Naznin Khatun,25, and Mokbul Hossain were fined Tk 40,000 each and Insar Ali,45, Tk 30,000. The last three hail from Lalpur upazila.
Rapid Action Battalian (RAB)-5 of Natore Camp commander Major Shibly Sadeque said the convicts had been manufacturing and marketing adulterated molasses for long.
On secret information, a team of RAB-5 conducted separate drives at village Bhabanipur in Boraigram, and Walia and Fulbaria in Lalpur on Thursday.
During the drive, the elite force also recovered 1,150 kilograms adulterated molasses and molasses producing equipment. Later, they were handed over to the mobile, led by executive magistrate Ruli Biswas.
