Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), much known as the cradle of heroes of local sports, is beginning its grassroots talent hunt programme for 17 disciplines from March 4 and it will
continue till March 22 throughout the country.
BKSP is intending to find out talented male and female athletes of different age levels through the three weeks of talent hunt programme. The player selection will be held in different district stadiums.
The disciplines for which the players will be selected are Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Wushu, Boxing, Gymnastics, Swimming and Tennis.
Players aged under 12 to 14 will be able to apply for Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Wushu while players aged only under 8 to 12 will get the chance to apply for Boxing, Gymnastics, Tennis and Swimming.
Age, ability and fitness will be thoroughly examined during the selection process. Around 1,000 male and female athletes will be enlisted for a one-month training programme. Later, only 200 selected players will be sent for a four-month training to be held in BKSP, Savar and other regional centres.
Afterwards, the promising athletes will brought under BKSP's intensive training programmes to create future stars of different arenas.
