Fire breaks out at Teknaf forest

A fire broke out at a stretch of two-and-a-half kilometers of hilly forest near Rohingya camp in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar on Thursday.

Three people have been reportedly injured in the fire incident.

Upazila administration, police, forest department and fire service and civil defence have been trying to control the blaze.

Local people  first spotted the fire at about 11am from Noor Ahmed Guna to Naityangpara area under Teknaf pourasava.

They said thousands of trees and vegetable field on over 100 acres of land have been burned down.

Fire fighters could not tackle the flame as gusty wind is fueling the blaze.

Teknaf UNO M Rabiul Hasan said it is still unclear that  who set fire to the forest.
