5 city corporations polls by July, says CEC

Election to country's five city corporations will be held by July this year, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AKM Nurul Huda on Thursday.

The CEC came up with the disclosure while distributing smart identity card in Paba upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday morning.

"Initially, the date has been fixed for July, but, the decision will be finalized during the meeting of the Election Commission (EC), said the CEC.

The CEC also informed that the election to Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Gazipur city corporations will be completed before the general election.

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be introduced during the election but usage of it depends on training capability, he said.
