FF Nazrul buried beside his wife

Freedom fighter Nazrul Islam, who was killed in a plane crash in Nepal, has been buried in Rajshahi with state honor beside his wife’s grave.

After Friday prayers, he was buried in Gourganga graveyard in Rajshahi city after a namaz-e-janaza held at Uposhahor central mosque ground.

Before janaza, Nazrul's coffin was covered with national flag and a team of metropolitan police gave him a guard of honor. Later, the district administration and the Metropolitan Freedom Fighter's Command showed respects to the body.

Two daughters and family members of the deceased, City Awami League president and former city mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, BNP chairperson's advisor and former mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, deputy commissioner Abdul Quader, district council chairman Mohammad Ali Sarker, among ohers, were present at that time.

Our Chapainawabganj correspondent said Nazrul’s body was taken to his village Rahanpur of the district on Friday morning where his first namaz-e-janaza took place.

Deceased Nazrul Islam was a resident of Upashahor area of the city. His wife Akhtar Begum was also killed in the crash. His wife's body was buried on Tuesday.

On March 12, a flight of US-Bangla Airlines crashed while landing with 71 passengers on board at the Trivuban International Airport in Nepal. 51 people were killed in the plane crash where 26 were Bangladeshi.
