Rajshahi University (RU) students have sought withdrawal of
cases filed against the students who were arrested in Dhaka while
demanding quota system reform.
Convener of the Quota Reform Movement Committee of RU unit Masud Munnaf said, "Students of the whole country have demanded withdrawal of
cases filed against the students who were arrested in Dhaka while
demanding quota system reform."
RU students brought out a procession from in front of the university's central library on Sunday morning that paraded main roads of the campus. After the procession, they held a meeting at Sabash Bangla square where the student leaders spoke.
Munnaf said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has recently said that it is not possible to cancel the freedom fighter quotas. But we don't want cancel of quota system, rather revision of the system. Meritorious students are being deprived in job recruitment due to the current quota system."
About two hundred students of different departments of the university participated in the procession.
Students from the movement announced that they will hold a civil gathering on March 29 at universities, colleges, division and district levels.
