Another 17 students hospitalised after 'mass hysteria'

Another 17 girl students of Hatibandha Secondary School in Sadar upazila of Meherpur were admitted to a hospital on Thursday after they panicked amid a 'mass hysteria'.

Shafiqul Islam, head teacher of the school, said a student of class VII fell unconscious in the class at about 9am.

Later, some other students from different classes went hysterical and were taken to Meherpur General Hospital.

Meherpur 250-bed hospital super Dr Mizanur Rahman said some 50 students have been given first aid.

When anyone affected with the disease, it spreads rapidly to the adjacent ones.

There is nothing to be worried, said the doctor, adding that the situation could be back to normal through counseling.

Earlier on Tuesday, 50 students of the school were admitted to the hospital after they panicked amid a 'mass hysteria'.
