RUET BCL activist sent to jail

An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) unit has been sent to jail in connection with the clashes between two groups of RUET BCL that happened on March 8.

Motihar police station sent him to jail through court on Friday morning.

The RUET BCL activist, Tanvir Ahmed Tushar, is a student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of 2014-15 session.

The chief investigation officer of the case and also the Sub-inspector (SI) of Motihar Police Station Shahabul Islam said a case was filed accusing 44 students in connection with the clash between two groups of RUET BCL.

Accordingly, Tushar was arrested on Thursday night at around 12:30 pm from the Talaimari Shaheed Minar area of the city. On Friday morning Tushar was sent to jail through court.

Earlier on March 24, Rubaiyat Iftekhar Islam, a student of civil engineering department was arrested in the same case. He is currently on bail.

It is to be noted that on March 8, two groups of RUET BCL clashed in Abdul Hamid Hall. At least ten students were injured in this incident.
