Inter-Univ Football, Basketball tournaments begins at IU

The Inter-University Football and Basketball tournaments-2018 began at the Islamic University (IU) campus in Kushtia on Saturday amid enthusiasm and
festivity. The Football tournament will
end on April 6 and Basketball
tournament on April 7 through the final matches.
A total of 17 public universities of the country are taking part in the tournaments including Dhaka University (DU), Rajshahi University (RU), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University (CU) and Islamic University (IU).
The Islamic University (IU) authority organised the tournaments at the football field and Gymnasium of the university in association with University Grant Commission (UGC).
Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the tournaments releasing balloons and addressed as the chief guest with IU's Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha in the chair.
IU Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Students Advisor Professor Dr M Rezwanul Islam and among others were present on the function as the guests of honour.
Director of IU's Physical Education department Mohammad Sohel delivered the welcome speech while representatives of the seventeen universities were present with their team members.
Later, the first match of the Football tournament held between Islamic University (IU) and Pabna Science and Technology University (PSTU). IU won the match defeating PSTU by 4-0 margin.
