Robber suspect killed in 'shootout'

Gangni Police Sation OC Horendra Nath Sarkar said on secret information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation at a banana garden beside Amtol-Manikdia road to commit robbery, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive there at about 2:30am.

Sensing presence of the team, the robber gang opened fire on police, forcing the police personnel to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
"One of the robbers was found bullet-wounded," the OC said.

He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctors declared him dead.
