Myanmar Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Minister Win Myat Aye on Wednesday assured of repatriation of Rohingyas from Bangladesh at the shortest possible time.

The minister came up with the assurance while visiting Kutupalang Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar.

This is the first such visit by any Myanmar minister to the largest-ever refugee camps.

Earlier, a 12-member team, led by the Myanmar minister, arrived in Cox's Bazar at about 11am.

He first went to the camp in-charge's office and was apprised of the overall situation of Rohingyas who have taken shelter in the camps since August, 2017 following an army crackdown in Rakhine state.

Later, he had a discussion with the Rohingya representatives at the UNHCR office at Bock-D.

Calling upon the Rohingyas to go back their own country, Win Myat Aye mentioned various facilities would be given to them including National verification card.

While talking to journalists, he, later, said Myanmar would remain attentive regarding the Rohingyas' rights, dignity and citizenship and they would be brought back home at the shortest possible time.
