Rajshahi journos demand trial of policemen

The journalists of Rajshahi brought out a procession in the divisional city on Wednesday evening protesting against the police torture on Saidur Rahman, general secretary of Rajshahi Press Club.

The assembly was held in front of Rajshahi Press Club where the journalists of print and electronic media were present.
In the assembly, journalists condemned the police torture on Saidur Rahman and demanded exemplary punishment of the policemen.

On Wednesday morning, police beat the general secretary of Rajshahi Press Club, Saidur Rahman, and scolded him. Later, police took him to Rajpara Police Station.

Saidur Rahman alleged that he went to Kazihati area of the city where his relatives contacted with police about a problem. Saidur intervened and tried to dispose of the matter.

After police reached the place, and came to know the identity of Saidur, sub-inspector (SI) of Rajpara Police station, Mahabub scolded Saidur in filthy language. At one stage, the SI took him to the police station beating all the way.

Later, members of the Rajshahi Press Club got Saidur out of the police station.
