Country's premier English newspaper The Daily Observer has passed four years of its publication remaining firmly attuned to its principles of objectivity, neutrality, independence, unbiased and non-partisanship in disseminating news and formulating critical views for our readers. Since the first day when The Daily Observer copy hit the newsstands in March 2014, we have never forgotten our motto "We stand for people's rights" and have affirmed our intent to serve the people focusing on crucial issues affecting all and sundry, including politics, militancy, development, humanity and raising our voice against corruption and criminality and violation of human rights. We are committed to the spirit of 1971 Liberation War and cherish the dream of a non-communal democratic Bangladesh based on rule of law and equality.

Within a short span of time, The Daily Observer has come a long way fulfilling its pledges and it strongly pursued the right course of journalism. This newspaper has already been rated high for its fairness in presentation of news and analysis and offering our readers Observer Specials highlighting key issues and sharing opinion with the people.

The Daily Observer gives special emphasis on daily editorial and opinion articles drawn from cross section of writers and contributors from home and abroad and receives positive feedbacks. We also value suggestions of readers and senior journalists - and try to follow a positive course in the country's chaotic and often violent politics as well as volatile situation.

We try to keep journalism separate from petty party politics, depend on our own reporting and expose corruption and crimes without fear or favour. Our policy is "non-compromise' with wrongdoers and promote people's welfare and country's development. The Daily Observer keeps its policy steadfast on the freedom of journalism and fair reporting and treads a neutral course, which as a newspaper is no less hazardous than walking on a tight rope. But so far we have been unflinching not to slip down - and we take a vow to remain steady as we go forward. The Daily Observer in pursuing its bold journalism has encountered challenges, threats and displeasure of influential and powerful quarters, individuals and syndicates. We have not compromised and never we will.

The Daily Observer also publishes business pages each day, weekend magazine and regular pages on art and culture, education and literature, health and culinary pages, Young Observer and Life Style which are very much adored by our readers. We are grateful to our readers, patrons and well-wishers whose unswerving support help us to sustain our odyssey in the media world.

Before signing off, I should mention that Bangladesh has now earned the recognition as a developing country emerging from LDC status and we in The Daily Observer join with the nation to pray for divine blessings for the peace and prosperity and happiness of the people of the country.
