Robber suspect killed in gunfight

A suspected robber leader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two rival gangs near BRAC office on the Meherpur-Chuadanga road in Meherpur district early Wednesday.

The dead was identified as Khademul, 28, son Rezaul Haque, a resident in Shishu Bagan Para area of the district town.

A listed criminal Khademul was an accused in the cases of robbery and killing, according to police.

Robiul Islam, officer in-charge of Meherpur Police Station, said that acting on information that two gangs were exchanging fire near the BRAC office, law enforcers rushed to the spot and found the body of Khademul.

Police recovered the body and sent to morgue.

A one shooter gun, three hand bombs and lethal weapons were also recovered from the spot.
