Courier service providers in Rajshahi district are now busy carrying Rajshahi's delicious mango to different regions of the country, including Dhaka.
Courier traders, however, said that people have been sending fewer mango than last year because the local people who works in Dhaka and elsewhere will return home from different places of the country to celebrate Eid. And, after celebrating Eid, they will take the mango with them.
Gopalabhog variety of mango is now being sent generally, but, after the end of this week, many varieties of mango will come to the market, and their business will grow even further, said courier people.
On Monday, Rajshahi city's courier service centres were seen busy packing and dispatching mango. Some employees were calculating weight, some were counting money, some staff were writing addresses on the packets.
Alam Hossain of Karatoa Courier Service said about 100 maunds of mangoes in 220 baskets going to different places of the country every day. “We charge Tk 12 per kilogram consignment. Hopefully our business will be better after Eid. Higher quantity of Langra mango will be sent at that time.”
SA Paribahan Manager Safiul Islam said, "We have various services in different areas of the country. Every day we send 500 maunds of mango to various places, including Dhaka. Now the business is a bit less than last year. We are sending per kg mango for Tk 15. Hopefully our business will be more vibrant after Eid.”
Alif Hossain, who came to send mango through SA Paribahan courier service, said, "I am sending 6 maunds Gopalbhog and 1 maund other mangoes to Mohakhali in Dhaka and Narsingdi district.
