Thousands were affected as diarrhoea broke out in the last four days in Gangni upazila of Meherpur.
There are shortage of six kinds of important medicine including saline at Gangni Upazila Health Complex where the patient are now undergoing treatment.
Many of them are bound to get admission in different clinics leaving the hospital due to lack of medicine and saline.
Physicians of the complex hospital claimed that diarrhoea patient have been increased due to unbearable heat. There has been no saline for the last five months.
According to Gangni Health Complex sources, some 193 diarrhoea patients admitted to the complex from 15 May to 19 May while 281 took treatment at outdoor and 436 from the emergency section who were not provided cholera saline.
Some 102 patients were admitted in three clinics. Most of them were women and children.
Health complex storekeeper Dabiruddin said six medicines including saline, cholera saline have been finished five months ago.
They have already sent a letter to Meherpur Civil Surgeon’s office.
Victim Nasima’s mother used to come government hospital for free treatment but she became disappointed as there is no diarrhoea saline at the complex.
Residential Medical Officer (RMO) MK Reza said that people are attacked with diarrhoea due to unbearable heat wave sweeping over the region for the last few days.
