Rajshahi University (RU) administration has decided not to set Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) in admission tests for 2018-19 academic year.

The admission seekers have to face written test of 100 marks in 2 hours. University Vice-Chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan told reporters after the brief meeting of the 65th founding anniversary of the university on Friday morning.

At the time, the vice-chancellor said, "MCQ exams are easy to take, but the real merit is not checked. One of the four answers is likely to be correct. Moreover, the students only study more and write accordingly. MCQ can answer any student, but writing can be done by good students. So the administration has decided to experiment in creative way this year.

Now the exam will be held for 4 units on 22nd and 29th October.

Students will also have to apply in two phases. In the first phase, the students will be selected according to the results. Later, the selected candidates will be required to withdraw the admit card by submitting a certain fee. Maximum 16 thousand students will be able to take the exams in each unit, he also said.

When asked about whether there would be an opportunity for second time in admission test, he said the admission test committee has not yet taken decision over the issue.
