Bangladesh Railway has suspended its ticket collector grade-2 recruitment written test without prior notice on Friday.
Candidates coming from different parts of the country demonstrated at western railway building (Rajshahi) against the abrupt decision.
Police have been accused of threatening arrest of the candidates.
The written test was scheduled to be held on Friday at 3:30pm. Thousands of candidates from across the country came to Rajshahi to attend the test. Among them, about 14,000 came from Barisal, 6,000 from Dinajpur and about two thousand from Naogaon, and about 30,000 candidates from different parts of the country came to take part in the exam.
But just about half an hour before the scheduled time, the test was announced suspended hanging a notice on the board causing anger among the aspirants.
The candidates said that the recruitment circular for the post of ticket collector (grade-2) of Bangladesh Railway was published in November last year.
The scheduled day of the examination July 20 was announced two months later.
When the candidates went to their exam centers on Friday afternoon, no seat plan was found in there. Then they came to the railway office building adjacent to the railway gate of the city and found the suspension notice of the examination hung. BR sources said the examination has been postponed due to question leak.
Later, police and RAB appeared before Rajshahi Railway Bhaban to keep the situation under control.
Rajshahi Railway (CST) Asim Kumar Talukder arrived there assuring the candidates that the exam will be held soon.
