Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner SM Hafiz Akhter has said that BNP themselves blast the crude bomb in the BNP's election rally to disrupt fair elections to Rajshahi City Corporation and get the sympathy of voters.
He said this at a press conference at the office of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner at noon on Sunday.
Police commissioner said Rajshahi district BNP General Secretary Matiur Rahman Muntu talked to the central committee's assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu on July 19, two days after the bomb attack. He acknowledged the attack and mentioned the names of two attackers.
Matiur Rahman Muntu was arrested by police after their conversation. Muntu was arrested from Ramchandrapur's house in the city on Saturday night.
Confirming the police's interrogation, Muntu confessed to the bomb attack. The person who was involved in the bombing will be detained after interrogating him.
The audio was played at the press conference. Police Commissioner confirmed that the voices heard in the audio were of Montu and Tipu.
