Minister’s niece among 4 killed in road mishap

At least four people, including a niece of the ICT minister, were killed in a road accident in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi at around 4 pm on Sunday.

The accident took place as a Chapainawabganj-bound micro and Rajshahi-bound truck collided head-on in Matikata Bridge under Godagari upazila.

The deceased were identified as Khadizatul Kobra Keya, 30, her daughter Rawza Khatun, 6, and son Ahanab, 5, and driver Paul, 35. Keya is the daughter of Golam Kibria brother of ICT minister Junaid Ahmed Palak.

At that time, Keya's husband Alamgir Hossain and his daughter were seriously injured. Alamgir Hossain is the Assistant Director of Chapainawabganj Narcotics Control.

According to the police sources, Khadizatul Kobra Keya and his daughter died on the spot when a truck and micro collided head-on. Later, son Ahnab and driver were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where they died.

Godagari police station SI Aminul said that The truck has been taken to the police station after the incident, but the truck driver is absconding.
