Virat Kohli presented with cricketer of the year award by Barmy Army.
Mumbai, July 27: Team India captain Virat Kohli has clinched the Barmy Army's International cricketer of the year award seond time in succession. This was revealed by Andy Thompson. Speaking exclusively over telephone from London, he says, "The voting for the 2018 Barmies closed at the weekend. It's no surprise that the winner of the International Player of the Year for 2018 is the current India skipper, adding to the 2017 award he won in the same category". Knowing that Virat Kohli was unlikely to be able to pop across to this year's event Andy Thompson, the Membership Secretary and Tour Manager, headed down to the warm up match in Chelmsford to present him with both awards. "He seemed genuinely pleased to receive them and confirmed he would be doing his best to secure a hat trick next year". "We wished him well for the series of course, hoping it would be closely fought and diplomatically adding that we hoped the best team would win. I think he knew what we really meant though". "I am very grateful to Virat and the BCCI for allowing us to present these awards, which are well deserved. As they are voted for by the fans we know the players regard them as quite special". Thompson signed off.
