Poems

Of Blood and a Dawn's Dream

A tribute to Sheikh Russel

Published : Saturday, 11 August, 2018 at 12:00 AM  Count : 1176
A crow flapped away from Dhanmondi 32;
Its tired nap was disturbed,
It cursed the gunshots.
A red shadow swallowed the house number 677,
A little boy was hiding behind the furniture,
A red pair of helpless eyes noticed the crow,
The green soul assumed, the Farishta left Dhaka.
"Will they kill me too?" His heartbeat wouldn't slow down.
Revolver barked; the crow saw,
With a deadly fear, a child ran toward a man…
Man? Embracing softly he stabbed the child in the back.

Since the river of blood has to flow,
It has to come to our land.

The poet is a student of English department, Khulna University
