Varsity student drowns in sea

A student of BRAC University drowned in the bay while taking bath at Laboni point of the sea in Coxâ€™s Bazar on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Iftekharul Alam Abid, 25, son of Yunus Ali, a resident of Feni district.

Abid drowned after washed away by wave while taking bath with other friends at Laboni point around 7am, Mahmudul Alam, sub-inspector of Coxâ€™s Bazar Tourist police, said.

Members of tourist police and Sea Safe Lifeguard rescued Abid and rushed him to Coxâ€™s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
