500 MW more power coming from India on September 10

Bangladesh is going to import another 500MW of power from India from September 10 to feed the national grid, according to the Power Division.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Norendra Modi will inaugurate the fresh 500 MW power transmission from India to feed the national grid from 10th of this month.
With this the total import from the neighbouring country now stands at 1,110MW," Power Division Secretary told the Daily Observer on Thursday.
Earlier, the Ministry announced that the import would start from June 10, 2018.
The state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board will require spending Tk 41,579 crore for the import of electricity for 15 years from India's West Bengal grid using a 400 kV trans-border transmission line that connects Baharampur in West Bengal with Bheramara in Kushtia, according to Power Division.
Bangladesh has been importing about 660 MW of electricity from India since August 01, 2011.
Bangladesh is going to import 500MW of electricity from India using a high-voltage DC substation with 500MW capacity and the same power     transmission line with 1,000MW capacity installed by the state-run Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB).
Recently, PGCB doubled the substation capacity at a cost of Tk 1,854.80 crore to facilitate a total of 1,000MW power import from India's grid in the West Bengal.
However, PGCB spent almost the same amount to install the first substation in the location to facilitate the country's first trans-border electricity trade.
Bangladesh also imports 160MW of power from India's eastern grid directly connecting a part of Comilla's electricity transmission and distribution system with Tripura's system.
Of the fresh imports, India's state-run NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam, NVVN, will supply 300MW while its public-private venture PTC India Ltd will supply 200MW under separate contracts with successive effects for three years and 12 years.
Power Division is importing power from India through two types of contracts (i) short term and (ii) long term  under short-term contracts.
The NVVN will charge the rate of 5.66 US cents or Tk 4.7148 per unit or kilowatt-hour for its 300MW of power to be supplied until December 31, 2019 while the PTC will charge the rate of 5.88 US cents or Tk 4.8647 per unit for its 200MW of power to be supplied over the same period of time.
Under long-term contracts, the NVVN will charge 7.79 US cents or Tk 6.489 per unit for its 300MW of power to be supplied from January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2033 while the PTC will charge 7.86 US cents or Tk 6.5474 per unit for its 200MW of power to be supplied over the same period of time.
