A case was filed on Thursday afternoon with the Election Tribunal court demanding cancellation of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) polls result on allegation of irregularities, BNP mayor candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul confirmed the matter.
Bulbul said, "There were huge irregularities at every centres in the elections. So I think this election needs to be canceled,” he claimed.
Advocate Abul Kashem's Assistant Pervez Tafefik Jahidi said, "Five lawyers, led by senior lawyer Abul Kashem, took part in the hearing. After the hearing, the court judge Abu Sayeed took the case into cognizance. In the case, he has demanded cancellation of the election in 138 centres.
The elections of RCC were held on July 30. Awami League candidate AHM Khayeruzzaman Liton got 1 lakh 65 thousand 96 votes. His nearest contender Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul got 77 thousand 700 votes.
