Huge glass dome transmits sunshine to shopping center

A shopping center in east China’s Shanghai depends mostly on natural sunshine to light up its interior space from top to bottom thanks to its design of a glass dome.

The dome looks like a work of art but actually functions as an energy-saving facility to light up the atrium of the building. Designed by Canadian architect Moshe Safdie, the dome put up by a glass pillar which makes the whole design like a lush tree is 20 meters high and 30 meters in diameter.
The green design also made the construction qualified for precertification of the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED).-Internet
