9 lakh Yaba recovered, one held in Teknaf

Members of police, BGB and RAB, in separate drives, recovered over 8.93 lakh Yaba pills from different places in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar on Saturday night and Sunday.

During the driver, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members detained a drug trader.

A team of Teknaf Model police raided the sea beach area adjacent to the Marine Drive at Noakhalipara of Baharchhara at about 7am, said OC Ranjit Kumar Barua.

The team recovered huge consignment of six lakh Yaba tablets, worth about Tk 18 crore.
 
Later, additional superintendent of Cox's Bazar Police Nihad Adnan Taiyan visited the spot.

In another drive , RAB-7 members raided the house of Rafiqul Quader at Aliabad under Teknaf pourasava in the morning.

They nabbed drug trader Syed Alam alias Bhutto alongwith 83,600 Yaba tablets.
 
Earlier on Saturday night, acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB took position at Noakhalipara boat ghat area. Sensing the presence of the paramilitary troops, Yaba smugglers fled the scene, leaving behind a boat.

The BGB team found a sack in the sea and recovered it.

Later, 2.10 lakh Yaba pills, worth about Tk 6.30 crore were recovered from the sack.
