Mobile court jails land grabber, recovers land

A mobile court in Cox's Bazar on Monday sentenced land grabber Mohammad Masum to two years' imprisonment.

The mobile court, led by Sadar UNO Habibul Hasan, raided Kalatoli bypass road in the afternoon and held Masum and handed down the judgmenet.

During the drive, khas land worth about Tk 2 crore were also recovered.

The UNO said Masum, son of Anwar Hossain,a resident in Jhautala area in the town, has long been engaged in hill cutting.

He grabbed 60 percent hilly lands in last eight months.

The administration, so far, conducted, raids 11 times, but, could not arrest Masum as he and his workers managed to flee on every occasion.

Masum confessed of cutting hills. But, failed to show legal documents, the UNO added.
