Yaba trader killed in 'gunfight'

Police recovered the body of a Yaba trader at Merine Driver area in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mofiz Alam, 32, son of later Lal Miah.

With this, the number of deaths in anti-drugs crackdown stood at 239 across the country since May 12.
Police sources said on secret information that two gangs of Yaba delaer was exchanging fire, a tean of police conducted drive there early hours.

Sensing their presence, the gang members managed to flee the scene.

Police, later, found bullet-hit Mofiz and rushed him to Teknaf Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Teknaf Model Thana OC Pradip Kumar Das confirmed the news.
